A tribute to our dear Don

You know i am inspired by a Master Po called Don

He gives me reason to get up and put my trousers on

Most days i read his poems and they really make me happy

i sometimes reply in jest but my contributions are quite crappy

He has a lovely little dog we know that she's called Midge

A Motorhome that's really cool and it even has a fridge

Sometimes they go on journeys to places far and wide

We love his pic's and travelogues our delight you can not hide

Anyway the only reason that i am writing this little ditty

Is to pay tribute to a dear old chum who alleviates days that are s***y

I think probably it's because i have consumed far too much wine

But i think we must all agree that he makes our days just fine

I know he will be embarrassed by his grasshoppers display

But what the hell, when school is done all the children play

Ski's and Scruff's xx

Or Ski's who should have gone to bed and Scruff's already sleeping on it. :)

I agree that Don’s a good chap

Who makes us all feel right hap**

Go to bed now Skis n Scruffs

And prepare to face more days of puffs!

Sorry, don’t have the genius but have had a couple of complementary after dinner scotches at this hotel on my hols. Lovely!

Night night Skis n Scruffs ;-/ xx

I confess to a bit of a headache....! But the lovely breakfast seeing it off, with a couple of paracetamol. Thanks, Mikeski. I’d be feeling happier if we’d beaten Wolves, but can’t have everything :-) xx

Yes, yes, yes. Love it. Just woken up in our currently hectic household. Nine family members in the Guide Cottage just down the road. Elder son now resident here, younger son just arrived here from Inverness with wife pregnant with twins. Probably accounts for my patchy participation here. Much to tell about a squabbling William of Ockham and Zebra...

Don’t know whether I’m coming or going..

love from a discombobulated Kate xxx

Strewth Mike, i’m sitting here on the side of my bed crying at five o’clock in the morning. How the hell did this happen. You have no idea how much I appreciated that. Don & Snoring Midge xx

Dear Don

How can you be surprised? Did you not know how much we love you and so appreciate your rhymes? Doh... Silly chump. Look into Midge’s adoring eyes and know that it’s replicated by all of us here.

Love and hugs

I was in shock Kate. I’ve been called a sheepdog out of control in one man and his dog, drug fuelled and the group bully. So seeing that heading I expected the mother of all put downs! 😅

It was the shock, you shouldn't do that to the elderly. Now I am really am embarrassed. (Well okay, it was very very funny as well.) (And well written as well) 🙄

There are some people here who really make me smile

When I'm having a bad day they make things feel worthwhile

If I'm overwhelmed by sadness, health or gloom

I'm always comforted by my friends in the next room.

Love the picture, just how I imagined you ha!

Reply

Ha! trust me to get it wrong. Yes ailments are a nuisance at the moment, should have had this op last year but backed out as its a long recovery and like you I dont have anybody to look after me for that long and the pain subsided so thought I was ok until I washed the kitchen floor on hands and knees last week, that will teach me x

Snap, I was cleaning on my hands and knees this morning....while steamer, 2 different mops , two vacuum cleaners reside in the cupboard.

My late mother was in the army so maybe I learnt from her.

Lost my breath though.

Ha! so glad it isnt just me Knitter. Yes the army has alot to answer for, they used to inspect our quarters on handover and woe and betide if things weren't just right, hubbies used to get called in and given a dressing down so always kept on top of things and think that has stayed with me. Although if I had known my shoulder problem hadnt healed the floor could have stayed dirty. We must be barmy ha! x

Don, Don you are the one,

Who always brings a smile,

We all get up to face each day and you help make that worthwhile.

Fun, fun that’s what you bring

Each and every day

With happy hearts, ready to sing,

You can never go away.

Thank you Don. 😘😀👍 xxxx

Oh here she comes, letting the side down as she's (me) totally rubbish at rhyming. However,I still want to agree with skischool and all the other members who've posted in reply about @Don-rhymer ... Mr.D. is worth his weight in gold for the number of people he cheers up at the beginning of each day! Mr. D. you have served us well with your cheeky rhymes, your cheerful outlook on life and letting us get to know the 3 women in your life .... Midge,Scarecrow Sally and Dolly!

So no slacking, where's today's rhyme? xx

Dear skischool , I will very happily take your message as a compliment from a Master of whit and character who embraces everything that comes his way .... In other words my dear friend, you may get a Christmas card from me this year, but no promises depending on whether the postage has gone up!

Seriously, we need more folk with your outlook on life, even when things look down, you are seeming to be able to rise above it all !! All power to you my friend.

Must go now as my nuts need to be collected else next doors red squirrel(pest) will steal them, lol. xx

"It's the thought that counts" is what they say

It helps to start another day.

We share our highs, and all our woes

And once again fight off those foes.

A group of folk who struggle on -

Especially with the help of Don!

Iris you show a touch of class

Everything you write is just first class

Don's little dittys are not too bad

Some say to read them makes them glad

But the fact so many put pen to paper

Means we are not too old for this kind of caper. :) x
