Own up!

Who else farts when they cough?! It's more embarrassing than the cough itself. I'd like to know I'm not alone. Lol!

Hello Moy,

I clenched my buttocks just reading this but they are not the cheeks that were red!

Yes, sometimes I fart when I cough. I must admit I have to remember to clench when I feel a cough coming on in case I leek urine. I pee as soon as I feel the need as I worry a lot about the idea of stress incontinence. It hasn't happened yet...

Is this another joy to look forward to? Wearing pads so I don't trickle wee as I walk about. What if the farts turn to worse...

Trying to think ahead I've added pelvic floor exercise to my gentle physio regime.

So no Moy you are not the only farter here xxx

I can relate to all of that! The joys of living with a lung condition, eh? Who would think that a simple cough could cause so much mayhem? xx Moy

Have bad reflux and bloating etc, all that comes with that so after eating I'm terrible, and after drinking I have to burp too!

Reply

Ah yes! Reflux has a lot to answer for, doesn't it?! As if a cough wasn't enough of a problem on its own. xx Moy

Yes me too, when I cough I do that a lot. I don't care admitting it, I use Tena's. Even at best times my bladder is size of a pea, after having my children it very much effected bladder control! And bad coughing too, it's like a double whammy.

Tena ladies are far out of my price range so I use Always which are a lot cheaper! x

Do you have Home Bargains store nearby as they are selling Tena for much same price as Always at the moment.

Well it depends on what you mean as near me. There is one on the outskirts of the next town which takes around 20 minutes by car and 1 and a half hours by 3 buses! I don't have transport. Where I live there is a lot of out of town shopping areas and everyone is expected to have their own transport!

Stuff Tena ladies though as I can buy a packet of 48 Rennies in Home Bargains for less than the price of 24 in my local Tesco Metro! x

Both hubby and myself have the same problem at the moment for different reasons for me its the coughing and John is still recovering from major surgery, We are both trying to come to terms with having less control over our bodies than we did and we now carry a diaper bag for the necessary stuff. Ah the joy of getting older...โ€ฆ..

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I'm sorry and glad in equal measures that others have the same problem as I do. Sounds like a gun going off some times! And I have the same problem with needing the loo a bit too urgently to make it in time. Oh joy! Don't we all have fun? Still, at least we all know we are not alone with it. xx Moy

It's all starting to feel as though it's the norm! I've been at it again tonight. Luckily, I don't have to walk far to the loo. As you say, 'an ordinary day'. xx Moy

Don't need to cough to pass wind these days. I've just bought some cheese with charcoal in to help improve the smell.

Ooh! I didn't know such a thing existed. xx Moy

I didn't until yesterday, when I went to the craft fair at Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire. I've known a long time that charcoal tablets improve the smell of wind in very windy dogs.

. When I was young I could hold a fart for ever... I could laugh with out worrying about peeing myself. ... I could bend over any time with out farting ....I miss those years of having such control,....I don't even want to scratch my ass when I"m out for fear of farting in public.....
