It's never a good morning

So many questions I need answers to. Does any one feel they are worst in the morning for breathlessness? For some reason when I wake I feel like my head has been in a plastic bag and I'm breathing through a straw not a nice feeling.

Yes, i often feel worse in the morning when i first get up. I think its because we have been lying down still most of the night, which can cause congestion , and until we get up and start moving about etc it feels uncomfortable. Gentle exercise helps, stretching etc.

Hi there, Yes I am in the same boat, unfortunately. When I wake up very bad coughing and mucus. It feels like my lungs are two balloons being blown up too tight on my chest. Very uncomfortable

Do you sleep flat out? I found at the beginning of my illness that it was difficult to sleep flat out and I woke up chesty etc. Then I started sleeping half upright and I was much better. Took some getting used to but stopped me getting lungs all full up with mucus.

I found the same thing and now sleep sitting propped up on pillows. Flat is a no- no for me.

Hi Nik, i find it depends on how i fall asleep. If i sleep on my back i really struggle in the morning, my chest feels blocked. Also if i sleep for too long, now i try to get up every couple of hours. But on the whole mornings are a problem until i clear my chest.

Hi nik72, i am at my worst in the mornings until I clear out, wish I could sleep propped up as that is what causes the problem but just cant sleep like that.

Once I have taken my meds and steroids and inhalers I begin to feel reasonable but as the day wears on and especially into the evening I feel very much worse, my breathing becomes more difficult and energy very low. Following a meal or trying to venture out at this time of the year is when I experience the breathing through a straw.

I'm the same Nik72, I'm up at6 but need 2 hours before I can do anything. You'd think that having a good night's sleep you'd feel better but unfortunately not.

I'm with all the others, every attack I've had where I had to call an ambulance has been in the mornings. I sleep sitting half way up it doesn't matter. I sleep with my oxygen on now just at nights and that helps. I can't be rushed in doing things or it takes my breath away so I allow myself more time if I have to go somewhere. At least 1.5 or 2.0 hours to wake up.. treatment, sit around, put make up on, get shower or get dressed. Rough some days when I'm having more trouble that usual.
