Bisoprolol and others.

Over the last few months i have been prescribed Bisoprolol, Oxybutynin and Fostair ( As a replacement for Seretide). Over this period of time I seem to have lost most of my energy. I need to know which, if any, of the new meds is to blame. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers.

Hi Doublecee. Don't know about the other two, but Bisoprolol slows you down. It's given for anxiety, migraine, palpitations etc. I had to have my 10mg dose adjusted as it was making me bradycardic.

Take care. Pam XXX

Hello doublecee,

like Pam I only know about Bisoprolol which I was put on in August after broken heart syndrome. I was put on it to slow my heart rate, which it does. It also makes you tired but I've adjusted to that partly by slowing down and pacing myself better. It's also reduced my breathlessness a bit because some of that was due to my heart working its socks off.

It makes sense and I think it's worth taking and your body does get used to it.

Why not speak to your GP? Take care, Sue x

Hi doubledee. I can only echo what Pam and Watford girl said about bisoprolol. WhenI first took it it made me that laid back that I drove my car into a ford that was too high. One dead BMW!

Bisoprolol is a beta-blocker - in essence it blocks the effect adrenaline has on the heart.

It does slow heart rate down and can make you feel tired & light headed at first, but it(usually) goes after a few weeks when your body adjusts/gets used to its effects. If it continues you could ask for a lower dose.

You'll find exercise needs a longer warm up as you have to work harder to get your heart rate up... on the positive front, it calms your nerves, too.
