Promixin advice please

After a lengthy battle I finally got Promixin prescribed and have the Philips rep due on Wednesday to bring my I-neb. Looking at the Promixin box it says for infusion and doesn't appear to have a disc inside. Is there a Promixin for inhalation and have I been prescribed the wrong kind?

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. I have just spoken to a pharmacist and I have indeed been given the wrong prescription, life shouldn't be this hard.

Hi Kerrieblue, I hope you get it all sorted out before your trainer turns up on Wednesday. I was going to take a photo of my Promixin box and one of my spare discs for you but I saw that Hanne62 had already responded to you with a good link. Good Luck for Wednesday and let us know how it goes :)

Thank you for your reply, this really has turned into a saga. Hubby had to go to the doctors first thing this morning to get me a same day appointment. The GP I saw was new (of course) and told me I had been prescribed the solution for injecting because I had been injecting Colomycin. I mean really!! Anyway to cut a very long story short, my revised prescription is at the chemist and they are hopeful of getting it through for me later today, so it is still hopefully a green light for Wednesday. The photo Hanne62 sent was very useful, I showed it to the GP she had not seen this drug before.

The help from members on this forum is outstanding and I am so proud to be one of you (sad too!!)

Hi Kerrieblue - I can truly empathise with what you've been through here. My Promixin journey began last summer 2015 and I only started nebulising the drug on 1st July 2016! I won't go into the whole sorry saga here but I will tell you that the 1st G.P. I saw after my consultant had prescribed me for it said: 'Oh, we can't prescribe this for you, it's a non-licensed drug'!

Well, it turned out that they could prescribe it and have done so ever since. It is an expensive one for a G.P. practice to meet admittedly, as I believe one box of 30 phials costs around £200 and one box lasts me 15 days, as I need to use 2 x phials per day.

I also get my boxes of 30 x sterilised water phials, at the same time as my repeat Promixin prescriptions.

I know what you mean by the help and support from this Forum, it is amazing. I would never have known about the iNeb if it hadn't been for those on here - bless them all, I say :) X

Oh gosh, sterilised water phials, that is a new one for me, I expected to use saline, which is all I have.
