I never had to have an assessment of any kind and have often read posts about people fighting to get this payment which is a disgrace......Like you i sent a letter from my consultant and a few other things and heard back 3 weeks later

I had appointment about 4 weeks after returned form, Am now waiting for results, They told me I would hear from them in three or four weeks so due any day. A week after appointment I received word from DWP they had all my information and would be in touch. I do not envy anyone going for this appointment, I was a nervous wreck, had an operation on the Tuesday and my appointment was the Friday so was not in best of fettle . I do not like among strangers at best of times and rarely go out without husband so by time I got there was up to high doh. However the NHS Rep. was very nice and patient .I am waiting not so patiently for results. Good luck

Thank you all for your replies will let you know haw I get on

Just a note for any that are looking for threads about PIP (or ESA) and what to do, specifically about including your documents, letters, notes, prescriptions etc.

First, gather all such paperwork and make at least 2 copies of each, I usually make 3,

It is important that before you copy, each page must have your full name, date of birth and National insurance number at the top of it. This is because if it becomes detached when the DWP have it, if it is not easily identifiable it may well not find it`s way back into your pack.

Needless to say, if it is the original and you have no copies the problem is compounded.

Often the same personal medical documents will be used in claims for both PIP and ESA, hence at least 2 copies, but I find it useful to replace each copy as it is used.

Lastly, I keep all PIP correspondence in a file, same with ESA, with important names, phone numbers, websites etc written on the front for quick reference.

PS

Sorry about hijacking your thread, just seemed a good place to mention this.

I heard back within about 4 weeks and was given an assessment date about 2 weeks later. My assessment was scheduled at Wigan Lancs and I live near Staffs border at 9am which was not amusing with school run for a 5 year old to organise and my husband needing to drive me there. I phoned and changed appointment to somewhere more local as could not do original date due to prescheduled hospital tests. Sent off some further medical info my consultant had prepared for me for in the interim. On receipt of this info my face to face assessment was cancelled and PIP decision granted.
