SR1 form replacing the DS1500 for certain Benefits including PIP.

Good afternoon,

I currently have a DS1500 form in place for the PIP Benefit I currently claim, because I am Terminally ill. I recently read that the SR1 form has now replaced the old DS1500 form. I was wondering if anyone could answer my question below as I can't get a response from my doctors and I am just constantly on hold when I call the DWP up.

My question is:-

When re-applying for Future Blue Badges or other Benefits will I need a new SR1 form that replaced my original DS1500?

Or will my existing DS1500 form remain Valid and in place?

Kind regards as always everyone.

Hi Joseph. I don't know what a DS1500 form is but I have had a PIP since 2015 which gives me 12 movement points. Therefore my Blue Badge can automatically renew with this. My BB is up for renewal in Nov 2023 and my PIP in early 2025. I was worried about my renewal for the BB. I rang the office of our council. They told me that if the original PIP award letter (DS1500?) said that the award was for 'an ongoing period' that was all they needed to renew the badge. I sent them a copy and the badge came back within a week. So look at your award letter. As you are terminal it will probably say 'for an ongoing period'. Do make sure to keep the original. I hope that helps and that I explained it properly. If the DS 1500 form is one specifically for those who are terminal I suggest sending that and not worrying about any updates.

I'm not certain Joseph but I would think that, given you have PIP, existing paperwork will be valid. The new forms may be sent if you are to have a review. Whenever I have renewed my blue badge the council have only wanted to know if I was in receipt of PIP.
