Back to the Dr yesterday for COPD clarification

Visited the Dr yesterday as wasn't told much about my diagnosis except you have COPD, not sure how long you've got! Also the salmeterol inhaler was causing pins and needles and cramp in my hands, feet and legs! Dr told me the COPD is very mild and that I am more likely to die of something else than COPD, I don't need a respiratory nurse or pulmonary rehab at the moment! Phew, I honestly have spent the last three weeks thinking I now had a death sentence!

New inhaler prescribed, now have Spiriva 18 micro gram in a HandiHaler, which I take once every 24hrs so fits in better with my work, as is difficult to take meds into a prison! So I will see how I get on with it. Does anyone else take Spiriva?

Just want to thank everyone on here for the advice I have had thus far and say what a great forum with friendly, knowledgable people who certainly helped me when I panicked at my original diagnosis 😀

I am pleased that your results were so good. Most people with COPD are prescribed Spiriva and it seems to work very well.

You just did what we all did, so pleased you've got your treatment sorted out. Just remember to exercise and eat healthily (and stop the ciggies if you smoke) and relax xx

No, I don't smoke, gave up five years ago, which the Dr said gives me a head start 😀

Hi Tracy. I have found that taking the Spiriva at night  (at 8pm) was best for me. Gerald.
