Hi

Stage IMild COPDFEV1/FVC<0.70FEV1≥ 80% normal

Stage IIModerate COPDFEV1/FVC<0.70FEV1 50-79% normal

Stage IIISevere COPDFEV1/FVC<0.70FEV1 30-49% normal

Stage IVVery Severe COPDFEV1/FVC<0.70FEV1 <30% normal, or <50% normal with chronic respiratory failure present*

Seems to indicate you are stage 3 severe,

I am stage 4 very severe.

If you have been diagnosed as having COPD that reading means you are at 'stage 3'. If you are newly diagnosed I can recommend the leaflets provided by the BLF. Go to their website and you will find lots of information.

Welcome Cogsie. Good suggestion to get hold of BLF leaflets. There's a lot of knowledge here between us all, so do ask any questions you have. Also the BLF have a helpline 03000 030 555 office hours and they are very helpful. :)

Your 47.5% FEV1 mean you are at the top end of stage 3 COPD. I'm at the lower end of stage 3 and have been for the last 8 years so don't be too concerned about the numbers.

Does suggest stage 3 if diagnosed COPD. If the diagnosis & PF test is very recent and you've just found your way here, it may improve with smoking cessation, appropriate medication, pulmonary rehabilitation, weight loss (if necessary) and regular exercise.

Best wishes
