my dear wife diane

sorry to have to inform you all but diane passed away on friday 1st may in the morning in the brompton hospital, she begged me to let her go as she could not face endless months of rehab etc, with no gaurantee of any suscessful outcome, she was far stronger than me , but i had to think of her rather than myself, they moved her to a peacful private room & i was at her bedside, holding her hand as she left me, am utter hearthbroken, feel so alone, thankfully i have some relations who are supporting me but feel so numb, if you dont hear from me for a while please dont think bad of me, just being a big cry baby at the moment, but i just wanted to say thanks to so many other members on here who left me many good will messages for diane & myself, thank you all xx

  • Hi there I'm so so sorry to hear that. You must be devastated.

Having lost a partner six years ago I know it's the worst thing

    In life.

At least you were with Diane and that must have been so so

Comforting for her, my partner died alone and I think about him a lot

And wondered what was he feeling.

It's natural to be in shock and numb, please look after yourself as its

    A very surreal stressful time.

Think of the happy times she had and that you were so important to

    Each other.

May God give you strength to cope.

    Hannah

  • hello , thanks for your memo, have never had to dealt with this before, and going from the greifing part - to almost the mechanical part, i.e obtaning a death certifcate etc, within a couple of hours seems so brutal, plus that as diane had an operation done there a few weeks earlier, they said the coroner has to be informed & in doing so am having to wait now until thats issued & it holds up the entire burial thing. tom

  • God bless you. You must be so proud to have had such a brave lady for your wife. The numbness you feel will ease in time it's such an awful process to go thro. Stay strong Diane will be in your heart forever. Take care. Kath xx

  • Hi Tom,

I am so deeply sorry to hear that Diane has passed away. You were with her at the end giving her love and support, and she knew that, which must have made things easier and more peaceful for her.

No wonder you are heartbroken and numb. You are still in shock and it is probably still sinking in. I am glad you have support around you just now because you will need it now and in the days ahead.

Nobody on here is going to think bad of you if you don't appear for a while as you have more important things to do and think about just now, but hope you feel you can come here anytime and there will always be someone around to chat to or listen.

If you can, take comfort from the fact that you and Diane were so loved by each other and that you were together when she passed, and in time you will remember happy times. For now, just lean on people and give yourself all the time you need. Look after yourself and take care.

May Diane rest in peace, and wishing you find some peace and comfort too.

    Take care,

    hugs from Huggs xxxx

  • So sorry to hear about your loss. As others have said she is at peace now.

It will take time to come to terms with your loss and give yourself time. Try not to make any big decisions for at least a year. When you are so sad it is too easy to make mistakes about the future.

    Thoughts are with you.
