I had to go to my local supermarket with the wife today and just before I got to my spot a large Audi dropped into the spot and out got mum dad and 2 daughters and happily skipped down to the entrance. Yes Skipped! So I became DPAGman (Disability Parking Action Group) and put my Failure to Display Form under their Windscreen Wiper! While I was on my shuffle to the supermarket an elderly man got out of his car and said have you just put a ticket on that car. I told him what it said and he said "Well done it really gets my goat they more or less ran to the shop."
And I did not even have my underwear on the outside of my jeans!

Good for you Offcut that is totally wrong isn't it? I hope they can get fined for that. Did you report it at the store? Er..what is a Failure to Display Form please? Hope you had a good day anyway. x
Please display your disability badge. This facility has been kindly provided for the use of those that are in need of this space because it is close to the premises.
If you are not a holder of a Disability Badge then you are not showing any consideration to those that are not fortunate to be in good health or mobility, and should be ashamed of yourself for parking here.

That's my ticket
Well done you!! It really annoys me when people take parking spaces meant for the disabled..What annoys me the most is people using badges not intended for them, and most of all getting disability when they are not seriously ill. That's my rant out the way..What is failure to display form? Have a nice evening..Take care ..Laura.
I did send an email complaining about one of their staff parking in the bay some time back and the reply was they do not have any powers as it is private land. I replied with then all you need to do is put over the loud speaker the car reg number needs to display it's blue badge. also if that is the case why do you say there is a max time limit of 2 hours of which if that is exceeded you will charge them ? They did not reply
Hmm, came across the ULTIMATE vehicle parking in a Disabled parking bay in the Car park of Asda the other day = A FOUR TON LORRY ... would have love to have seen the driver and to assess how "Disabled " he was , as the cab was about FOUR FOOT OFF THE GROUND - some climb !!! ,,,,
I know what you mean I struggle getting my leg over the rim of the bath.
I saw an elderly man tapping on the windscreen of a large white van after a very big guy got in and then pointed to the disable parking sign. He was very rude to the elderly man so I called the company number on the van and told them what happened and they made him call me and he apologised.
Did you take a photo? If you did you can out them on: parklikeac..t.co.uk (park like a c**t - only with the whole spelling). A great website who also have their own stickers for these selfish people.
Do have a look (although if you're squeamish abou language then don't)!
I would love to do a blitz on the car park by having every car that does not display ticketed. The car park in question has 3 Disabled areas in different areas of the whole car park, One Saturday in one area there was 6 cars parked without displaying the blue badge!
I and my friend both disabled ,struggle nearly every sat to park nr the entrance to our local supermarket, most do display their badge but 1or2do not,. We're can I get these failure to display notices please?
Brilliant idea!!! I have often wished I some kind of note to put on these idiots windscreens. Makes me SO mad when they park in Disabled bays. I have been known to sit in my car (if they look like they'll return quickly) and make loud comments when they appear. Some very shame faced people!!! :o)
Good for you Offcut and I think it is a great pity that Supermarkets do not do more to combat this total disregard for disabled people needing to park the disability bays. We do not park in mother and child bays and don't expect fit and able people, with or without children, to park in disabled bays. It makes my blood boil. You take care now Superman! xxx
I wonder what they would think if disabled people parked across 2 normal bays on there busy days! It would show them what inconsiderate parking can do to profits.
Hi Offcut, just read your comment, I totally agree with you, the amount of times I have driven round the car park to find a disabled space, round and round i go, then find someone who gets out of their car, no badge up they are too lazy to go in a normal space, sometimes I get looked at, until i put on my anmbitory oxygen on and walking stick! Its frustrating enough being stared at in supermarkets, with oxygen on, like your some kind of alien wish i had the guts to say something to them, but the other week some women nearly bumped into the fresh fruit stall, mind you i did say very quietly, "would you like a picture"!! (dont think she heard me!)
I must admit to having looked covetously at some disabled bays in my local supermarket recently. Although I am not a badge holder I have broken a metatarsal (foot) bone, which does not require a cast but can be quite uncomfortable to walk far on. It is a shame you cannot get temporary disabled parking badges from A&E which last a couple of weeks
I saw this guy park in a mother and baby bay and go in to the bank so I waited till he was at the front of cue I went in tapped him on the back and said I think you forgot something and took him by the arm and took him outside, when were outside the bank I said your baby.
Parent and toddler bays have no legislation at all but are there for convenience for parent and toddler at the car parks discretion.
Blue badge bays comes under the Equal Opportunities Act / Equality Act 2010, Government buildings should have Blue badge bays no further than 50 metres away from their entrances. But PIP Mobility will not give you enough points as they state 20 metres as it was changed from 50 metres under special measures!
My husband has had to park over two spaces as I struggle to get out without the door fully wide open, we got odd looks until he got my wheelchair out of the boot. I cringe but he sticks up for me and stands his ground.
There is a type of adhesive which is horrendous to scrape off windscreens - a notice splatted on with that might deter these selfish b*stards in future!! They couldn't do anything about it, could they, as no harm would be done - hehe!
Of course, one would have to wait and enjoy the scenario but it would be well worth it
I used to have one for poor parking which was along the lines of "May the fleas of a thousand camels infest ... " - I won't go on - it is a bit graphic lol!
If only - but we know it's never going to happen - we have to fight for everything.
I found this on honestjohn.co.uk ...
"I used to be a police officer.
S.1(1) Criminal Damage Act 1971 provides that a person is guilty of criminal damage if they intentionally or recklessly destroy or damage property belonging to another without lawful excuse.
Damage is not defined by the Act. The courts have construed the term liberally. Damage is not limited to permanent damage, so smearing mud on the walls of a police cell may be criminal damage. What constitutes damage is a matter of fact and degree and it is for the court, using its common sense, to decide whether what occurred is damage.
Therefore it is arguable that attaching a large sticker with adhesive that is difficult to remove is an offence under the Act. The relevent word is 'arguable' and it is unlikely that a police force would pursue a prosecution in the event of someone placing a sticker on your car window due to the very uncertain nature of the alleged crime. A successful prosecution could be privately pursued but only with strong evidence from reliable witnesses or video evidence.
The courts would probably take a dim view of such a prosecution, viewing it as petty. Even if the prosecution was successful, you would be unlikely to be compensated for the cost of bringing the case."
Personally I'd be happy to take a chance - if I did get caught and prosecuted, it would be well worth the publicity!!
That is why I lift the windscreen wiper and place the paper under it. If they rip it out and nick the blade then they have caused the damage. Lifting the blade and removing it does not.
I have since sent all the 4 big supermarkets a TweeT
"Do you have any thoughts on non blue badge holders parking in supermarket disability bays? Your supermarket does not it seems!"
To be fair all 4 replied but were more interested in which one it was I have given my experience at all of them but added this is is happing across the UK. I will post all my results once I get them all in.
I get computer active and a letter there this issue covers this. There are two websites listed for upload of photographs. One is by 'Stuart' of Lowestoft and is at snipca.com/12917. There is also a facebook page at snipca.com/12983.
I cannot edit the post and it is including the full stops needs to be snipca.com/12917 which is a Face book group, and the other snipca.com/12983 once again a Facebook group. I belong to Facebook so can always post for people if need be
