Beta blockers can make you short of breath.

Using beta blockers can make breathing worse . My eye dr told me to stop my timolol eye drops that I take for glaucoma , and see if my breathing improved . Lo, and behold, I'm not so short of breath since I stopped. Many people use beta blockers for high blood pressure, so I thought I'd share this. ( you'd think my pulmo dr. Would have told me this)DUH!!

Yes colours, I've read that too. Guess we are all different,so have to pay attention to our individual side effects. As for me, I'm much better without the beta blockers. SOB has really improved.

Hi batbara, yes beta blockers do effect lung conditions, but not everyone suffers the side effects and smaller doses can be given. I was told anything ending in LOL should not be taken by Asthmatics by my local Chemist. I personally have found many drugs of beta blocker nature make my lung condition worse, breathing and cough.

Boy! do they ever! I have arrythmia of the heart and was put on beta blockers....I was in a DREADFUL state and told the Cardiologist that I would rather cope with my racing heart than the breathlessness I was experiencing. She put me on Flecanide Acetate and that doesnt affect my breathing.

Hello

I was given an artificial beta blocker because of my asthma. It was called verampamil, and I was given this because of migraines. It worked for a short time unfortunately but nothing more.

Take care
