I've often had this conversation with my husband, wonderful place Holby. I watched one where a young man had a living lung transplant from his parents just like that, if only. Actually that might have been Casualty.

Cakes not everyone is suitable for lung reduction, I doubt if in real life a decision to have this operation would be decided that quickly

These programs are interesting but not always true to life

I saw that too. Seem to remember a similar case with a woman a few weeks ago who had been admitted with a cough and sob . She too was taken down for urgent lung reduction surgery !

The possible consequences of unrealistic story lines such as these is that no doubt the one decision maker at the DWP has watched that program and then looked at a claim for DLA from a person having COPD and will decide that it's easily fixed and refuse the claim! Probably not as far-fetched as the story line sadly xx

I always say to my husband that if I take bad I don't want to be admitted to Holby!!!

Good job it is all just make believe on Holby and Casualty.

I enjoy watching them as I like to pull both programmes to pieces about the Nursing and Medical procedures!!! Don't get me wrong, I love watching both programmes but I always have my Nursing hat on when doing so. lol

I guess on the upside there is always the bonus of increasing awareness of COPD and Treatments available, even if we have to wait considerably longer for them :-)

Great prog on BBC last night, 'Burning Desire' about the tobacco industry, pt 2 coming soon. Have a sunny day....

The worry for me is both are filmed quite locally ....... Cardiff now, but used to be Bristol - & I live between the two. One of the casualty 'nurses' lives in my village ..... we have an emergency defibrillator hanging in a glass cabinet outside the village shop ....... one hopes she is not around if it's ever needed.
