Life insurance

Hi all,

This is my first time asking a question in this forum, I have been looking for the last year or so. I got diagnosed with Bronchiectasis last summer and have a young family, with two girls aged 5 and 2. I have had a difficult start to the year with over 12 infections since Christmas. I have just changed consultant and meds and am hoping I will start feeling better soon, especially now the sun has put in an appearance!

I have a practical question. I need to sort out life insurance and wanted to know what the best deals were and if anyone else got insurance after being diagnosed with a lung condition?

Hope you can help,

Vikki

Welcome Vikki - I think the BLF Helpline have information on some insurers, their number is 03000 030 555. I am sure many of the members here will be able to give more specific recommendations for you. :) xx

Hello vikkihowe,

We have a list of insurance companies in our travel pack, see below. They may also be able to help you out with life insurance.

Welcome Vikki,

I don't have life insurance so can't really advise, but I am sure BLF can advise you further about this.

I am so sorry you have had so many infections this year, hopefully now you will be stable for a very long time to come.

Take good care

Thanks for all the help.

I will take a look at the BLF travel pack and call the helpline.

Hi Vikki, This is a difficult one - my husband is now 65 (old git!!!!) and therefore he has more problems getting life insurance full stop. We have been discussing this with our insurance/pension man and he seems to think there will be a problem and at the very least he will need a full medical. My husband is terrified of such things - so wont be doing that! I would suggest that you try to find a specialist insurance agency, there must be a such a thing. It is such a tedious task but unfortunately one we all must face.

Perhaps the companies that offer travel insurance maybe a good starting point.

It is so tiring having all the infections I hope that you have seen the back of them and can enjoy a happy summer!

with love and best wishes TAD xx

I don't know if this website is any help? payingtoomuch.com/travel-in...

On this page you can type in your details and do a search which will show whether the condition the person has will be covered or not:

Life insurance can ensure financial security to those who mean the most to you, such as your spouse, children and dependent parents. A carefully executed life insurance policy can help prepare for life's uncertainties and give peace of mind knowing that the future of those who rely on you is secure.
