You'd have to seek guidance from your insurance advisor on that one. I've got the over 50s life insurance, but I'm in the UK. I don't know how it works living abroad. Again, ask the BLF nurses. They may have the information you seek.
Maybe someone else will have a more definitive answer. Good luck.
Insurance is a difficult field when you have a COPD diagnosis, you need to declare it if you are in the process of obtaining insurance, the more drugs you take the higher the premiums go. The British Heart Foundation has a good list of insurers who consider difficulties like health and age, but sadly many insurance underwriters do refuse, my experience is keep trying if refused by one company.
I used to be (I left 15 years ago) a life assurance advisor for both Independent and Tied companies. It is not easy to get life cover with COPD as I found out over 5 years ago. To be fair I have also had heart failure and am a diabetic on insulin.
If it is only (ONLY ?) COPD that you suffer from it might be worthwhile approaching an Independent Financial Adviser, asking first the question, "are you experienced in Impaired Life Underwriting"? If so then he should take a proposal and submit it to several specialist life underwriters to see if anyone will bite the bullet. There are no guarantees and they are not charities so don't expect too much.
There was a mention earlier of over 50's Life Insurance with no requirement to give medical evidence to them. This type of life assurance provides full cover only after two years (only a return of the premiums in the event of death).
