Hello everyone

Is anyone here on Nustendi ? my wife has been on them for over a year but is now getting side effects such as back and stomach pain and fatigue. She's also on Levothyroxine but she has been taking these for years but the back problem has started since taking the Nustendi.

the best person to talk to, in my opinion, is the pharmacist employed by your doctor’s group of surgeries. He or she can then advise your wife’s doctor, having looked at her medical records.

Failing that, your dispensing pharmacist

I agree....but there is a six week wait to see our pharmacist, and trying to talk to them on the phone is near impossible.

Oh dear!

Back pain is listed as a common side effect of Nustendi here

I was changed onto Nustendi after I was prescribed an increased dose of Atorvastatin 80mg. I started to lose hair so the pharmacist at the GP practise decided to try Nustendi. My hair is now growing back! The problem is that the hair loss could have been caused by several things —- the trauma of the triple by-pass and valve replacement, Bisoprolol,or Lanzaprozole. What side effects is she experiencing?

I take them as unable to take statins. Does she take them at night? I do. As I suffer with IBS with multiple triggers, unhelpfully, I can’t say if the Nustendi is one. Some days I suffer with chronic fatigue but put that down to my heart not working well that day. I would suggest a GP review as any change in stomach and back pain needs a medical checkup to ensure nothing else going on.

She did change the time she took them from 8am to 12 noon but it hasn't made any difference she also suffers from IBS and they were also causing constipation. She's going to try and see a doctor to see if she can come off them and go back on Ezetimibe only.

Apparently ezetimibe on its own is not as effective as when combined with bempedoic acid as in Nustandi, or as effective as high dose statin. That said I take high dose statin and ezetimibe (as a top up) and don't get side effects with either. If your wife has side effects from Nustendi and is statin intolerant, and it is recommended that she takes lipid management medication, it might be worth discussing Inclisiran injections with the GP, although the bar to qualify for that is set quite high due to cost.

It took only 3 days for me to get crippling lower back pain. Stopped taking them after a few days, then tried again 10 days later with the same result

I’ve been taking Nustensdi for over a year. No side effects generally and none that I could attribute to Nustendi.

Yes I take Nustendi in combination with Atorvastatin but thankfully cannot complain of any side effects. I take both at 8pm every evening.
