statins and ibs

I've just by chance discovered something really helpful for IBS sufferers.

Statins really help ! Definitely if you have IBS C ...they've have made a welcome difference to me , as well to sleep, and to high blood pressure . So if you're feeling anxious about taking them, please be reassured and if your doctor prescribes them, try them ! You might be pleasantly surprised !

AND it’s thought they help prevent Alzheimer’s!

Oh dear , sorry to raise hopes for IBS sufferers.. I think its only IBS c that they help, so I imagine not IBS d..I know for some people they have the opposite effect.. they still give weird dreams but not nightmares..

I'm now on rosuvastatin which my cardiologist says has the fewest side effects ,( was on simvastin but he changed them ) I think its more expensive than the others so sometimes you have you ask for it !

I’ve had IBS C a lot throughout my life and Atorvastatin is definitely loosening things up!

I'm not sure about that, my IBS started after I had my first stent (2010) and started taking statins. My IBS was so painful in the first couple of years I had several blue light trips to hospital because they thought it was heart related or Gaul stones. Eventually a Dr put me on 10mg Amitriptyline and that reduced the frequency and severity of attacks.

Definitely didn't help either for C or sleep for me and my BP wasn't a problem anyway.

I suffer from IBS-D so it can only make it worse. Still take them though.

All the best.

hasn’t helped mine - but as it’s said everyone’s body is different and suffer different side effects - so that’s absolutely great for you
