Update. slept for 8 hours on and off.
I'll be honest, it was several weeks before I was able to sleep properly. For about the first 8 or so weeks, I had to sleep sitting up and I propped my left arm on a pillow on top of the covers because I was scared in case I lifted it too high in the night tossing and turning. As you slept 8 hours, it sounds like you are doing way better than I did.Don't forget to keep doing the shoulder exercises so it doesn't cease up... so important.
I was advised to put my arm inside a t shirt while sleeping, which seemed to help me. Keep using your arm as normal, just don’t raise your elbow above your shoulder. You don’t want a frozen shoulder. Good luck.
It will take a few days to settle down but look at it as your insurance policy. It might save your lifeSleep on your back for a while
You get used to it but be careful for a while as it heals
Good luck
Doc said that putting it through the vein which he did reduces risk of puncturing an artery. Talking to his assistant while I was on the table. Also overhear him saying he stitched the lead to a muscle. I was awake the whole time.
Hi there, do you mind if I ask what the ICD was for? How was your arrhythmia affecting you?
I think I sussed out getting in and out of bed. Still sore as ffff.
it took quite a lot of weeks to settle and the wound to go down and stop hurting but eventually you won’t know it’s there and you will feel normal again. X
I’m a slim size 10 as well and it took a long time but eventually you will go about your normal day as though it’s not there. It’s difficult to imagine at the beginning but that time will come it just takes a long time. I still get a funny feeling when I put my arm up and sideways and I stop quickly but it’s just a funny feeling it doesn’t hurt. Also touching it is obvious as I also have the biggest pacemaker defibrillator a CRT-D. Just remember it will get better as time goes on. X
