I would go to John Lewis or Currys and try them without taking any money. That way you go walk away and then decide. My personal choice depends on budget.
Smart watches can be used to monitor clinically diagnosed conditions such as AFib. However, they have a major limitation which is they are single lead. I am not aware of any smart watch that automatically shares info with a third-party but I am happy to be proved wrong.
FWiW, I would also look a KardiaAlive 6L device which is about a third of the cost of a smart watch. It is also possible to sign up to have ECGs assessed by a cardiologist.
Smart devices, as yet, are not approved for diagnosis. If you present an abnormal trace to a GP, their next steps are usually to arrange a 12 lead ECG and a holter monitor. That said, smart devices can be smarter than some GPs think. My wife’s KA6L detected Atrial Fibrillation. Two GPs would not accept the diagnosis as it was not a standard presentation. A 14 day holter monitor confirmed what the KA6L device had detected.
Here is one if many online guides on smart watches:
There are several comments on various posts here. My choice is Apple Series 9 which monitors several parameters and I think, although I have not done so, can be shared with whoever you choose. Mine is accurate to within a beat or so of my Kardia which I use when I suspect I may be in A.Fib. I have set mine to warn of high and low heart rates when I may not be aware of them. The warning is felt by a vibration of the watch on your wrist, and is not easy to miss. I don't know of any small wearable device to monitor BP.
yes, don’t get one. You will be constantly looking at and become completely anxious with having it on.
If something is going to happen how is the watch going to stop it, it will happen anyway. They just make you stress even more which effects the heart rate.
I agree with you Personally as a retired Registered Nurse and midwife I don’t think these gadgets do anything more than scare a person and make them reliant on their particular device A person is constantly worrying about their condition and cannot relax Therefore the Cardiac condition becomes worse Just my opinion ! I have Atrial Fibrillation myself ,even with a pacemaker I can sometimes feel my heart fibrillating or fluttering but it does go away after a minute or two .Proving that whatever the Doctors are giving me is working .I would say just go on your daily life and stop worrying ,these devices are not going to save you .A calm mind will.
