Following a heart attack & stent (Jan 2024) I was mostly fine for almost a year but since last December I am getting chest pains with nausea on a regular basis. I have been given a spray & told it is stable angina (I was sent to A&E twice when it started). I think it is unstable angina as it usually happens when I am sitting down or sometimes at night. At the moment I also have a horrible cough, sore throat & cold & feel quite unwell. I have taken the spray & co-codamol to alleviate the headache it gives me. I have an appointment with the cardiologist in April & have had a step test, 24 hour ECG & cardio echo but haven't had any results. Is this normal or should I be worried?!

Normally, if the tests show anything bad, they get back to you pretty sharpish. But if you are concerned that it is unstable, then it is worth mentioning that to your GP. If you have contact details for the cardiology department admin staff, then mentioning it to them as well so they can pass it on to the cardiologist. Sounds like you also have one of the nasty colds doing the rounds as well. I had one at the beginning of this year and they make you feel rotten!

Thank you, I will. I ended up in A&E yesterday as I rang 111 for advice & they heard "heart" & called an ambulance. The paramedics said I was probably OK but recommended I went in to be checked. It's not a good system & a waste of everyone's time but I couldn't get a reply from my GP & the headache from my Angina spray was driving me crazy. A&E are lovely but very overworked and it was a long wait. Next time I think I'll probably just take more & more co-codamol & hope for the best. I'm feeling much better this morning thank goodness.

Glad you're feeling somewhat better, in my experience, the headaches lessen as your body gets used to the meds. Hope that's the case for you as well.
