After having tests and speaking to my cardiologist I have been put forward for invasive angioplasty.

Likely hood is a second stent. My question is how to deal with HR department, I drive as part of my job but not HGV . Worried reaction of my boss as I remember him saying when I joined the company 3 yrs ago driving was part of the job.

Any advice thanks

You can drive safely few days after the procedure. If they go through the groin, you just have to be careful for a few more days but you should be able to drive after a few days regardless.

The regulations are different in each country. Are you in the UK?

Most angiograms are performed via the artery in the wrist rather than the groin in the UK.

Here are the DVLA regulations. You cannot drive for a week after a stent being inserted ( angioplasty).

UK Law Car or motorcycle licence

You don’t need to tell DVLA if you’ve had a heart attack (myocardial infarction) or a heart, cardiac or coronary angioplasty.

However, you should stop driving for:

1 week if you had angioplasty, it was successful and you don’t need any more surgery

4 weeks if you had angioplasty after a heart attack but it wasn’t successful

4 weeks if you had a heart attack but didn’t have angioplasty

Check with your doctor to find out when it’s safe for you to start driving again.

This should be the stance of you and also your employer

Good Look
