Dealing with diagnosis

Still getting to grips with diagnosis HFpHF and understanding that’s this HF is about self management on food and exercise and meds. I’m ok for a while then I get right into reading up on it and it sends me into anxiety and depression. I know I need to understand what I’m dealing with but it’s very hard. I haven’t talked to a medic about how to manage it. Will see cardiologist in 3 weeks. She’s through insurance and my GP is annoyed but has dispensed the meds and has referred me into NHS cardiology which will be months. How do people deal with the emotional roller coaster.

I do eat quite a lot of veg.and salads with some fruit.......a little fish and chicken. But I also exercise frequently.....walking, a seated Zumba class and 2 dance exercise classes as well as a Video boxing exercise most days. I am 86.These take place most weeks for one houror half an hour .The boxing is about 10 minutes......walks vary from half an hour at least daily.I have H Fairlure, AF and a non functioning tricuspid valve. My cardio, nhs, thinks this all ok for me..

Don't read too much about it on Google as it paints a bleak picture.

Basically it means the hearts not pumping as well as as shoukd but not that it will fail.

I don't get depressed about it I have a yearly echo which I pay for as its the best way to keep an eye on changes in the heart.

I'm a gadget freak with wellue 24 hour monitor as well as the fitness watch I like to know what's going on I think being proactive is half the battle

Get your cardiologist to explain it more throughly but try not to dwell on it too much it will get easier.
