Meds and constant colds

I have read a few posts on here about hearties having continuous colds and thinking it was their meds. I've had cold symptoms for six or so weeks, and the pharmacist I consulted about it wasn't sure what was causing it, as colds shouldn't last that long.

Now I'm not saying there isn't such a link, but I was having a conversation recently with a PICU doctor (paediatric intensive care unit) at GOSH when he mentioned that since Covid reared its ugly head, and much more so recently, they have found patients get a series of colds, one after another, which present as one continuous cold.

I merely mention this as it may be useful information, not being something I have heard anywhere else.

I don't recall having had a cold this winter. I don't believe I have any more or less immunity than the next person although I know some people do have low immunity levels through illness. I do get out and about, but its not like I am regularly mixing with others in confined spaces like public transport or in a workplace or public area like a supermarket or coming into contact with younger children who always seem to have a runny nose at this time of year, since I believe these are the main sources of getting the cold virus, unless someone you live with has those points of contact. So in short if you have low immunity and/or frequently mix with others who have a cold you will have an increased chance of getting the virus.

interesting. I haven’t (YET) had Covid, but this years, on the same medication I’ve been on for a long time, I’ve had a series of colds starting.

At the first sign of a cold I take a double dose of echinacea and a snort of “first defence”. About eighty percent of the time this works and stops them in their tracks.
