It is my understanding that gastro and cardio issues can both affect a single major nerve, the vagus nerve, with a similar outcome. I have had reflux disease for many years for which I am treated by medication, although I occasionally get a relapse and suffer for a few days before I recover. I also had an NSTEMI a few years ago. I experienced chest pains a couple of years after the NSTEMI and following a trip to A&E and admission was told I had angina (although I had explained about the reflux) and started treatment for it. But my symptoms changed and eventually the cardiologist conceded that the cause was gastro rather than cardio. Anyway if you have either of gastro or cardio issues you should speak with a health professional. Whereas the outcome of heart issues are obvious, long term gastro issues are not to be ignored since they can result in cell change in the oesophagus, which can in some cases be fatal.
thanks for your reply..having ECG in 2 weeks n echocardiogram will discuss then…
Did you have to go on strict diet with reflux can you advice what you eat and avoid

Acid Reflux and GERD can definitely cause extreme pain in the chest and other symptoms that can mimick a cardiac problem.People turn up regularly in AandE suspecting having heart problems and it turns out to be severe heartburn and indigestion.
On the other hand, people whom have bad heartburn every day don't realise that a bout of indigestion that doesn't go away can be an early sign of a cardiac event and ignore it then have a heart attack.
So , it's actually quick confusing.
Indeed I went to A&E but tests were ok next day went to see paramedic at drs practice and he took me off omeprazole put me on an alternative ..
so true, i had bad heartburn bouts for two years , prior to my HA , i deleted loads of foods from my diet to control these.
I had to have OHS after the HA and during my recovery my consultant explain i had mild damage to my heart and that potentially my heart burn was not always that and possibly angina.
I’m great now and very rarely get heart burn, but it does worry me that’s it’s my heart if i get a bout.
what foods do you use now thanks
since my OHS i’ve had a ruptured gallbladder and it’s been removed. So i keep off really spicy foods and as with my heart diet i keep away from high fat content meals , but i must admit i do cheat on that one . So i seem to get hardly any heart burn these days. i do eat more slowly and breakdown the food much better than i used to and thus also has help my digestion and therefore my heart burn has almost disappeared .
I thought I had hearburn/indigestion and was having a heart attack😒
yah having echocardiogram in a week… did you ever try gaviscon I’m having word with pharmacist tomorrow
yah I ended up in A&E no troponin levels ecg ok…
