Hello . I have posted many times on various INR issues. If you search my replies you will (hopefully) find helpful advice and tips. If you have a more specific question just PM me. I like to help if possible. Kind regards.

Hello Adeline,
Warfarin. I have been taking Warfarin for a year. I feel cold most of the time - and colleagues tell me that this is not unusual. Other annoying side effects seem to be an embarrassingly drippy nose and persistent failure of even very minor skin lesions e.g. razor scrapes- to hear - even after 6 months. But I am very old (90) so this may not be a general problem.
A more disturbing thing is news from a colleague - hospitalised for other than cardiac problems, that he has had a mild(ish) stroke attributed by his consultant to warfarin. I am exploring this (possible) association with some anxiety and would be grateful for comments from you or others on this panel.
Meanwhile, good luck , and comfort

Hi Adeline I have been taking Warfarin for 26 years now due to replacement mechanical mitral valve and aortic valve. At first mine was all over the place and I was having to go back on a weekly/two weekly basis, I still eat green veg which contain vitamin K and make the blood too thick as long as you are consistent with what you eat it should balance out if I think my blood may be too thick because of what I have eaten I usually have things to thin it to compensate. These days it is staying in range and will only dip one way or the other depending on the seasons e.g. summer to winter. If you have mechanical valve like I have you cannot have the newer drugs as I was told a licence was not available. Only side effect is feeling the cold/being cold all the time.
I'm very sensitive to warfarin so I'm on a very low dosage (2/2/2/2/2/2/1), but my INR is fortunately pretty stable. I make sure I have at least one large source of vitamin K a day in order to swamp out any other variability.
I don't have any side effects other than a slightly more runny nose.
