I'm coming up to 10 weeks post op valve replacement and bypass. I don't know if it's normal but I'm the same. My scar looks like a little scratch now. I was doing ok then at 6 - 7 weeks I had a lot of pain. My Dr said it was because because the sternum was healed so there was no movement and other muscles were being pulled. Did you get the clicking sound in your chest when you moved? That reduced considerably when the pain started and has gone completely now. After a couple of weeks the pain disappeared. I've been off all pain relief for 10 days, I've just got myself an exercise bike ( because it's to cold and wet to go out walking) which I can do 10 mins on. I have also done a few short spells with a battery chainsaw and pushed a wheelbarrow. I still need to sit or lie down a few times a day but I think that is just fatigue rather than heart related, I lost a lot of weight and muscle, I dropped down to 63kg from 74kg.The pain was worse when I took a deep breath and I still get occasional stinging sensation which is apparently nerve damage and can take months to disappear completely.
Thank you sounds like we have a lot of similar things going on … except the weight loss🤨 I’m going to get it check out as feels almost like a heart attack?
Likewise. I'm coming up on 11 weeks, and the pain I still get is fairly positional (like when I stretch to reach something, or in the morning getting out of bed), rather than on exertion.
Weight loss in my case was from 72 to 68kg.
Let us know how you get on in A&E. Wishing you luck....
