Is stenting a cure?

(From my profile):

I already have an ICD (2011) which is well-controlled (or would be if the ICD worked properly). Breathing problems from May 2024. VT June 2023 (which the ICD failed to trap). Diagnosed with Coronary Artery Diseasefor breathing problems. 2 x stents + 1 x balloon Oct 2023; however, there were problems during the procedure and I never got a follow-up. I went from being unable to walk more than 10 yards to being unable to walk more than 500 yards, but was told by lots of clinicians it would get better. It got worse. Two ambulance trips (one after I blacked out) diagnosed only as "angina"; sent home with no further treatment.

N. B. Both electric and plumbing problems are hereditary. In particular, I have eaten healthily all my life.

To what extent have other members found / not found that stenting was at least a partial cure for their breathing / angina problems? Apart from worsening breathing, I often get discomfort (3 or 4 out of 10), which I did not seem to get before stenting, specificly on the left upper side of my chest. Is such localised pain what others get with angina?

Your post was successful!

I can't answer your question about the stent, but last year my husband had a VT storm resulting in lose of consciousness several times followed by further VT's & heart pause. Like you his VT's were coming in under his ICD threshold. His ICD threshold was reduced twice more as he's still continued having VT's & other arrythimias even after an ablation.

In addition to the electrical problems, do you also have heart failure

I certainly do, so I have dodgy electrics, and now, dodgy plambing. Bart's electrician thought the VT was caused by heart failure / attack

I've not heard of that before, but my husband also has HF & well as dodgy electrics. If you're on Facebook I can highly recommend the pumping marvellous support group, lots of friendly support and knowledgeable advice from people who are either living with or caring for someone with HF, I've posted the link below if you want to check it out.

Pumping marvellous is the UK's leading HF charity endorsed by cardiologists/specialist nurses around the world and work with NICE on HF guidelines and medication.

I have a stent. It stopped my angina attacks immediately. I’m don’t think it cured me but it certainly fixed that problem.

Thanks for that. Is it good etiquet on this site to thank repliers, or is it unnecessay (and extra posts)?

I’ve never thought about it. Just hope my own experience helps that’s all. I’m glad I’ve got a stent.

I often use the "like" button. Shows appreciation without too many extra posts. 🤷‍♂️

Two stents after a heart attack 6 years ago. Certainly gave me a lot more energy and stopped the sharp pains I was having (anginia?) but never improved my breathing at all which has got worse. They did leave another 2 blockages in the LAD that weren't bad enough to stent; around 64% blocked. Lung function tests better than a 20 year old despite having been a lifelong smoker. GP's response- "How the H*** did you do that?" Been waiting over 12 months now for referral to check those other 2 blockages and the breathing problems.

Thanks for that, even though it's not good news (for either of us). Hope you get your referral soon. I attend Barts yearly for my genetic electrical problem, but even they can't get me an appointment with "plumbing". I also have an untreated furred up artery.

I just don't understand why "plumbing " has suddenly got so bad since the pandemic. My GP says even if they try to hurry up appointments they now don't even get a reply..
