Hi Everyone I am wanting to try for a baby before this year ends! I had a heart attack and have just over a year ago and have ischaemic heart disease , I am on Rampril and atorvastatin and I am also diabetic, I have been told by my diabetic team that these medications are unsafe during pregnancy but been told by my GP that are are safe so I am very confused! I have also been told that they're isn't any other alternatives to the Rampril and atorvastatin to take drying pregnancy? What have others done and what have they taken during their pregnancy as now it's set me back a bit of trying for a baby? If anyone can give me some advice and what they took please that will be great!

Medication Advice And Pregnancy
Hello,
Some larger maternity units run multidisciplinary joint clinics with Cardiologists, Midwives and Cardiac Nurses to provide the care for women with heart disease during their pregnancies.
These specialists also provide pre pregnancy advice.
I suggest you ask your GP to refer you to such a unit for pre pregnancy counselling.
Here's an example of a centre in London.

You could also contact The British Cardiovascular Society's
UK Maternal Cardiology Society.
Good luck!
As I am an older male, I cannot offer any advice about your request for informaton about Atorvastatin and pregnancy. The link and advice offered by Milkfairy should be helpful. All the best with your plans.
Neither ramipril nor atorvastatin are safe in pregnancy. Diabetes also can cause complications. Please don't get pregnant until you have had really thorough pre-pregnancy assessment, advice and management.
Yeah that's what I thought! And my diabetes is well in control. My current hb1ac is 6.1 so the diabetes side off things are all good! It's the medication I am on for my heart that I am worried about hints why I am trying to get some advice but when you're doctor tells you that these medications are safe and I have heard from my diabetes nurse they are not it's a bit confusing
