How do people handle getting PACs,even though you have been told multiple times they are safe?

How many do you get?

I experience both PACs and PVCs and can have over 10,000 a day on a bad day and about 4 when the going is good!

I deal with it by having faith in what my doctor tells me. He all but ignores my ectopics. I have several issues and he’s far more concerned with the other issues. Ectopics are like headaches - everyone gets them and although they can be debilitating, you don’t normally die from a headache and you won’t from ectopics either.

i was told my ectopics were harmless but they were so frequent that my heart wasn't pumping properely.. Now on medication but also just had a pacemaker,, the ectopics are much reduced. but I'm still recovering from the procedure!

I hope your recovery is swift and complete. That must have been hard for you. I’m also in line for a pacemaker. My issues are related to a sodium channelopathy.

There are always those who have more serious issues but that’s the exception. From memory, it’s something like less than 3% of people with ectopics beats go on to develop structural changes or more serious issues. Given something like 50-75% of people have ectopic beats at some point in their life, that’s not many who have more serious complications from them.

I was admitted to hospital for a week with myocarditis and pericarditis and because I was wired up to a monitor all the time they said I had Bigeminy arrithmia with 34,000 extra ectopics a day. As you can imagine I felt very unwell. weeks later cardiologist said I had got to have a pacemaker defibrillator fitted I had no choice he said without it you will have a year and with it it will give me 10 years plus! I was very shocked. This may not be in your case but they are all too keen to say ectopics are harmless but it depends what else is going on with you at the same time as everyone is different. In your case they probably are harmless but I would ask to have some sort of monitoring incase something else is making the ectopics worse. If I hadn’t have had Myopericarditis I wouldn’t have known. I was really poorly when they admitted me to hospital so I suppose if someone was this bad they would be admitted and they would find out like it happened to me. Hope it gets sorted for you.

I had ectopics for many years and was eventually diagnosed with supra ventricular tachycardia. Since being on Bisoprolol for SVT my ectopics are massively improved. Perhaps a low dose beta blocker might help if you discuss with your GP?
