LBBB and RWMA

Hi everyone, I’m new here (finding it super helpful and reassuring though :) I was diagnosed with LBBB and a narrowing of >30% of the LAD artery in the summer of 2018. Four weeks ago though, having had my blood pressure taken at my local pharmacy, I’ve had two ECG’s and an Echo. It now appears I have ‘ significant’ and ‘ extensive’ (cardiologists words from the Echo results) RWMA of the left ventricle. I am due to see the cardiologist at the beginning of December; my GP has prescribed Ramipril and aspirin in the meantime. Google has not been my friend and I’m now quite scared of what the future might hold for me. I’m only 60 and we have just started to enjoy our early retirement in our motorhome, exploring the UK and attending festivals in the summer … I’m thinking that this new development with my heart is going to make my future look very different 😢 Any reassurance from members here will be gratefully received … ☺️

I think RWMA is usually caused by a heart attack. But whatever damage that HA caused has already been done, so RWMA on its own isn't a predictor of reduced quality of life in the future.

The wrinkle is that the HA itself is a predictor of future heart attacks, so your cardiology team will want to figure out what caused it and sort that out (whether through meds, diet, stints, or more invasive surgery).

What did you echo show in the way of LV EF?

thank you so much for coming back to me … yes I’d read that RWMA could have been caused by a HA, but I have no known history of a HA, but I understand that us menopausal girls can have silent heart attacks 🤔 My LV EF is 46%, think that’s not too bad? 🤔

Yeah, 46% is showing some impairment but isn't too bad. I'm no doctor (and never even played one on TV), but I'd guess you've got a coronary angiogram in your future to see if your LAD narrowing has gotten worse, and potentially a stint to improve it. All of that is minimally invasive, though, so keep your fingers crossed....

Oh, and as your December date approaches, expect some additional anxiety and loss of ability to concentrate, etc. My brain was near useless in the week before my procedure.

Aw thank you, yep that’s exactly the way I’m feeling now! … thank you so much for putting things in perspective for me whilst I wait for my appointment ☺️

My advice to you is keep positive, enjoy each day, stop worrying it will only spoil your retirement. Let the pros do that, its there job and they will sort you out. Look how many of us on this forum are here because of them.❤

Aw thank you for your kind words ❤️ I’m feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment, but I’m sure once I see the cardiologist in December I will have a better idea of what to expect going forward … thank you again for taking the time to reply ❤️

I have LBBB (newly diagnosed and am 50) I've been on Ramipril for 3 weeks now and was initially a little dizzy as my BP reduced and my body got use to things but so far haven't had any problems .

Sorry I can't help with the RWMA but it's good they are aware of it and can help to treat it ( I say this, when I found I had LBBB a few months ago I was upset! But looking back it's best it was spotted). It's so easy to freak yourself out with Google (again I speak for myself !).

I hope December brings some comfort and eases the worry amd you can get back to enjoying your early retirement.

Aw thank you for replying 😘 … and yes Google hasn’t been my friend at all!! It’s good to get feedback from people here, it’s such a positive space ☺️ The Ramipril hasn’t given me any side effects so far (it’s been two weeks) but also hasn’t reduced my BP that much either, but that said I am a little stressy about things so guessing that’s not helping 🙄 … take care of you and thank you again for your positive words ❤️
