Hi everyone I am new on here.but looking for some advice please.6 years ago I had half of my left lung removed due to cancer.and no other treatment was needed. But I have seen consultant about this matter many times but sadly can't help me.
So I can walk miles with no problems.but as soon as I start doing something else like bending down I get so breathless.that I have to stop.because I am being sick..
So it happens as soon as I start doing anything.
My oxygen levels are around 88 to 92 % and while I am breathlessness I start sweating so much it's dripping of me .I have had breathing tests and borderline.can anyone please help me and if anyone can suggest on any tests that would pin point me in the right direction.it would be appreciated.i am 64 never smoked but work in garage with brake dust being blown out of the drums.many years ago.thank you for your time steve

You don't say anything about your weight or whether you still work, if so in what sort of environment. Also are you living in a clean environment or do you have pollution from a busy road?
Finally your breathing is likely to be affected by the humidity. If your house internally is humid then you can change that.
Hi my weight is ok .no I don't work because I can't work.We live in Bude in Cornwall and not far from the sea.
No busy road around us.
The problem is that no matter what I do I get very breathless and being sick.
It's really that bad that I have to stop what I am doing and sit down for 10 to 20 minutes or longer to get back to normal.
As I have said I can walk miles if I want to.and have no problems with the breathing.but as soon as I do something else that is when I get the problem.
I was only asking on here to see if anyone could suggest what I could do
Sounds horrible , maybe get in touch with 111 for some immediate advice. I have just had a total hip replacement a year after nstemi heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery, I’m being rebuilt 🤦🏼.. I felt terribly nauseous and sweaty post surgery when they tried to get me up from laying to standing. As soon as I got to the edge of the bed for first 18 hours post surgery , I just felt nauseous, like I was going to faint , sweated profusely. My blood pressure was dropping to 62/40. It might possibly relate to your blood pressure dropping but really worth speaking to 111 as a start?
The point of phoning them is let them know it’s happened /happening and what should you do . It may seem obvious but if you’ve had a series of these episodes then you may need medical treatment. I wouldn’t wait for the next episode. Other than that wait till next week and try and get an appointment with your GP. It’s our own responsibility, no one else is coming to help us in these situations. Similar thing pre my heart attack , had to ask GP for blood test , I knew something was wrong for months , tiredness , fatigue, falling asleep during day , no energy.. I thought my testosterone might have panned .. all tests came back normal (got a text).. no mention of possible cardiac problem, 6 weeks later heart attack. Apparently my fatigue symptoms were a big clue 🤦🏼.. Give someone a call or you’ll be stuck in a loop anyway , at least you have something specific to work on.
It’s always a bloody quest to find out what’s going on , getting in front a doc is the first challenge… keep us posted . I think we all understand where you are , the mental energy it is taking up plus the physical affects .
sorry to hear about your problem, and I support what DWizza ssuggests
I wonder if your remaining lung parts are also affected by the same thing which led to the initial surgery, and if this is affecting your breathing more now as you have lost some lung capacity?
with reduced lung capacity you may need some support and advice in learning how to preserve that and how best to manage your activity at this reduced lung function level - there may be a more suitable forum about lung and breathing issues on Health Unlocked and maybe you should ask for some suitable physiotherapy to help you, your GP should be able to request this locally and there should be a local chest clinic with specialist staff
I have a paralysed diaphragm on one side and other heart, issues under control with medication. I have reduced lung function, but no particular treatmentI cannot do any exercise which involves me bending forwards. I tried pilates and as soon as I had to go on my hands and knees, I felt very nauseous and had to give up. I am fine on my back doing exercises, but I find bending to do up shoes quite difficult. I have a hiatus hernia, and acid reflux and get quite breathless generally
I am not affected as badly as you seem to be be. I just try not to bend forward more than I need to.. Sorry not to be much help.
I had problems stooping down or bending down going dizzy was sick a couple of times with sparkly things going on in my vision and sweat pouring down the sides of my face and pain in neck and shoulders- it turned out to be very low blood pressure drops. As soon as it came on I had to lye down to help the blood go back up to my head then I was ok again. This might not be what you’ve got so I would definitely seek medical advice. Good luck.
My husband also has had lung surgery for cancer, and had half of his removed. He has exactly the same symptoms as you, but additionally sharp stabbing pain in his chest, which literally takes his breath away, but only lasts seconds. He has been checked for cardiac issues, both at the GPs and hospital and no heart issues were indicated. His symptoms are a side effect of the surgery, unfortunately, he has been told, and there is likely to be some adhesion, which is common apparently. I don’t know whether this info is helpful or not.
Hi thank you for your message.that really sounds like me.how long ago did he have the operation.as you said when it happens to me it can last a few seconds to a few minutes.
Also today I have found a new lump just left side of my ribs .and it's must be a good couple of inches in size.and it's feels soft to mid lump .
I have been trying to get in contact with doctors today but being Monday it's impossible to get through so have to try in the morning.
