I’m type 2 diabetic, 77, have AF which didn’t respond to cardioversion so waiting for ablation, am on metformin, bisoprolol, 2 diuretics, ramipril, etc, etc, and have been advised to start dabagliflozin. Worried about infections, gangrene and disfigurement…Any experience with it?

I am 80 have T2 diabetes and AF which did respond to cardioversion, I am on the usual meds which includes Dapagliflozin. I managed with a strict diet and excercise for about 10 years but increasing HbA1c levels reulted in my GP putting me on Dapagliflozin. My BGs are now in the normal range, Dapagliflozin has beneficial effects on the heart as a bonus. I have had only one side effect and I should mention I am male. That is a fungal infection on the head of my penis, sugar is expelled via the urine and fungus loves sugar. A fungal cream soon cured that and now I am very careful as regards personal hygiene. Maybe I should mention that I was always careful about personal hygiene but am now extra extra careful :-) . Hope it helps, MM
