Had pre assessment

Had pre assessment other day for coronary angiogram to be done on 16th October. I found out more about what's going on. They were so helpful.

I will need a TAVI and the angiogram is part of the process. My EF is 63%.

Sadly I will be back to waiting mode for TAVI- estimated about 5 months.

The nurse did say I will have to arrange a dental check. Not sure what they are checking though. What do I ask the dentist?

I believe they want to know if you have any cavities or loose teeth, The risk of getting Endocarditis is higher if you have poor dental hygiene. This step was missed out in my case due to urgency in getting heart done so that I could have the cancer treatment. bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

and just tell the dentist what’s going to happen - he or she will know what to look for and indeed do.

morning Gooner 1947,

I to am 77 years old, and 8 years ago had OHS for replacement valve and bypass. The dental check is as others have said to make sure you have no issues lose teeth or plaque. Having any heart surgery the fear is Endocarditis as this would travel to any replacement bits😂

I wish you well on your heart journey, being given a second chance is amazing. Just remember to follow the instructions you will be given.

I had my annual echo done in July and my pig’s valve is still pushing out the pressure! Once you are on the heart road it’s on going. But being given more time is a gift.
