2nd stent not advisable because of 10cm blockage in LAD

Hi went in for what I thought would be my second stent, but during the angiopgram they did a pressure test I think she called it, and afterwards in the ward they said I'd need a mini-graft (bypass) because of my age 60 and a 10cm blockage, the graft would be a better option, so today I met with the surgeon from Harefield Hospital, he explained it to me, they take an artery that's 'redundant' from you chest and graft it onto the the blocked one, 1 hour op, through the ribs, smallish scar 4 days in hospital. All sounds easy, and they said they could do it early Dec, which I thought was quite good? Anyone on here had it done?

Hi, That's key hole surgery and your extremely lucky that option is available without a full sterotomy.

I had a double bypass which involved a full sternotomy.

I believe you will have a better long term success with a bypass compared to a stent, and given your age it's a better way forward. I am 57 yrs and I have fully recovered. Biggest issue was with the sternum being sawed in half and the pain and recovery thats associated with that procedure.
