Amazing!

Following bad chest infection late last/ early this year had chest x ray. Turns out I have enlarged heart, which apparently showed up on the previous x ray taken early 2023 but nobody mentioned it then.😡 However heart failure has been mentioned but blood test was clear, I think? Dr referred me to cardiology for echo scan on 2nd July. Heard nothing so eventually tracked down phone no of dept and phoned today. Gave details, met with sucking in of teeth!😊 6 months waiting list. Could I go on cancellation list as live 10 mins fro.m hospital + half an hour to park😣. Yes and can you come in tomorrow at 12.50.😯 I most certainly can😊. Amazing isn't it, it sure pays to go on the list. Can't do it for some things as on Warfarin but echo - no problem.

I always go onto the cancellation list and it works about 50% for me.It hasn't worked recently for a physio.appoint. even when the top doc asked for it but I am not complaining if I get an appoint. every other time.

Glad you asked about a cancellation and got an appointment so quickly. I only found out in 2020 I was born with a hole in the side of my heart. I moved over 100 miles to the north west 5 years ago my old GP only did in house ECG and told me to have LVH no medication. My new GP sent to see the cardiologist who asked if I ever had a echocardiogram said no so I had one followed up with bubble echocardiogram which they ran 3 times as they could see the bubbles just not where they expected them to be. This was May 2020. No follow up until mid 2021. Hospitals where swamped with covid. Been having heart palpitations and flutters . Referred to AF clinic I have PAF on Flecainide and Apixaban. Had MRI in the machine for 90 mins and had dye injected.

Glad to say the connections between the chambers of my heart are intact and strong heart function. Just this small hole between my heart and lungs. But it's safer to leave it unless I get chest pain I am happy with that. I get breathless at times but that's normal . Since on medication rarely get palpitations or flutters if I do just do pre natal breathing and relax and it's soon over.

But I had to laugh when my cardiologist told me about the hole had 3 major operations and 2 minor ones all with a dicky heart.

I hope they can help you .

That's great you got a cancellation 👍, there is nothing worse than waiting. Your hospital sounds exactly like mine, a total nightmare to park, I break out in a sweat just driving up to it at the thought of going round and round, chasing people that are leaving no wonder the BP is up by the time you get there. Good luck with the echo char
