ICD protection

Being skinny my ICD is quite apparent and sensitive to knocks and movement in bed, in the car and even just walking about.

I have been looking at tops with some cushioning built in to minimise the impact of daily life.

Has anyone else had same issue and maybe found something that doesn't draw attention to my ICD, give some stability to my chest and doesn't cost hundreds of pounds to buy?

Maybe carefully put some weight on and turn it into muscle under supervision in your local leisure centre? And buy yourself a decent quality fleece to wear from autumn to spring? My Berghaus has lasted for years... Best I could come up with...

I don't know how long ago you had the ICD fitted, but it will take time for it to settle down.

I hate to touch the top part of my ICD were I think the wires come out.

In time though, for me it was about a year, you will forget you have one,

I know you can see it, but it's more solid in your chest by then and you can sleep on your left side.

I never worried about it moving a little, but if you think it has moved up or down and you are getting pain, PLEASE go to A&E,

Try not to worry to much, I and many others were or are in the same position as you.....

Hi

I have a pacemaker fitted end of Feb this year, and am very slim. The PM is very noticeable and things like my lifejacket (yachting) can cause a pressure on it. I did look at protection, as you say very expensive. I decided on the Spanish one, which I think is a good system, but cannot get on with it in a sailing environment. I am going to have one made by a friend who is also a seamstress, will be similar to American types, but thinner material, and maybe neoprene (wetsuit material). Not sure yet whether to have straps or an inside pocket in a tee shirt.

Not what you're looking for?
