Ongoing Fatigue/Tiredness 14 months after Nstemi and rca stent.

Good evening. Wondering if many of you have ongoing issues with fatigue. I’ve finished a year of cardio rehab. I’m sure 6 months ago I felt better than I do now. I’ve had my meds changed around recently to no avail. Having different tests done but can’t seem to figure it out. My arteries were quite bad but luckily 3 hours of angioplasty sorted them. Exercise doesn’t change anything and after good sleep I feel the same. I know we are lucky but everything is a real struggle. Does anyone else have the same issues?

Have you been tested for anaemia, thyroid issues and blood oxygen levels to name but three conditions that can cause tiredness? And then there is a low heart rate (bradycardia). There may be others.

Funnily enough (although it's not funny) while only 4 months since HA (no stents needed but LAD may have an issue to check in the future) I too feel that I'm going backwards and more knackered than a couple months ago. I've had most meds tweeked including bisoprolol down to 1.25mg but resting heart rate is still regularly in the 40's and high 30's overnight. I'm feeling dizzy and lightheaded, my diastolic BP is low 60's and now getting chest pains which Dr Google says low BP and HR can bring on. In preparation for call with GP this week I have also thought about asking them to check thyroid and will now add anaemia to that chat. So my chat with GP will ask about lowering BP meds, binning beta blocker and thyroid and anaemia check. Hope things improve soon for all of us..

Please keep us updated , I’m also on 1.25 bisoprolol and half a 1.25 tablet of ramipril ( Nstemi and quadruple bypass last July) and have low resting heart rate anyway (was 50s before heart attack , lifetime of sport and training) and now it’s lower and averages into the 40s. Often feel sluggish , occasionally dizzy . Had my statin changed from 80mg artovastatin, then 40mg pravastatin as I was getting zombie episodes regularly, totally spaced out 🤦🏼. Now on 10mg Rosuvastatin and doing well.

The instructions that come with Bisoprolol say Do not take this if your pulse is less than 60bpm. I was given Bisop after my HA in 2017. My pulse at rest is always below 60 and with Bisop 1.25mg it was in the 40's, even down to 39. I raised this every time I talked to a nurse or doctor but it took 3 and a half years before a doctor said Stop taking it. I wouldn't make the decision to stop it myself as I didn't know if my life depended on it.

Your pulse is also low so I suggest you ask your hospital doc if you should be taking Bisoprolol. It may be that both of us had higher pulses when we were in hospital because of "white coat syndrome" and the concern we feel when hospitalised. I wouldn't ask your GP because they don't like going against hospital doc's. instructions.

Will do, my instinct is to stick with the 1.25mg bisoprolol but reduce the dose of my Ramipril and/or Amlodopine which are both at 10mg and have been so for 20 years. I've lost a couple of stone since they were prescribed and I wonder if reducing those might just get BP up a touch to get rid of the dizziness. In terms of statins was discharged with 80mg of atorvastatin but caused bad leg muscle pain so now on 5mg rosuvastatin but cholesterol check (first since HA) later this week so that might need to increase a bit.

Hi,

A simple answer is YES, I feel worse now than I did last year. I had a triple bypass in Sept 22 which failed so I had stents Feb 23. My phrenic nerve was severed so I have a compromised left lung. I'd hoped I'd feel much better but unfortunately my fatigue is like nothing I've ever experienced. I've had bloods for everything and nothing shows (so far).

It's great to read how people on here are doing well if course, but it's so frustrating that I'm not.

I hope you find an answer!

hi, thank you all. Let’s hope we get these things figured out. I’m Starting different lipid lowering medication today. Let’s see what that does. Let’s keep positive. We will get there!

Hi All, this All sounds very familiar. I had a HA back in 2018, had 2 stents, followed the next year with another 3.In between this I was diagnosed with cancer in RH Kidney, that was removed but during recovery contracted Pneumonia! Since then I suffer with chronic fatigue or what they term Post viral fatigue syndrome. Very similar to Post covid. Maybe worth investigating.

Wishing you all the best. Alan.

I had 5 stents inserted in 2015 & then went thru rehab, but I didn't feel any better and was struggling with lack of energy. The nurse on rehab wouldn't let me proceed & she referred me back to cardiology. They said that there was nothing wrong but for the next year I collapsed about once per month, was taken to A&E every time where after many hours I was deemed fit the leave. It was only after the last collapse that my wife refused to take me home without there being some resolution. I was referred to a specialised cardiologist who dealt with difficult cases. After many tests she arranged for another angiogram where they discovered that they had originally missed inserting a stent. That was rectified & I have been reasonably fit ever since ( at least enough to carry out cardiac exercises. )

Mind you I have been feeling drained these last few weeks but that it down to the heat & also the fact that I cannot exercise now because of hernias.

Unfortunately, with the state of the NHS sometimes it is necessary to get firm with them before they will react.

Hope it gets resolved soon.

My husband had MI followed by 4 stent angioplasty February then April this year. His resting pulse is generally <50 most days, he’s on beta blockers & a host of other meds. He feels much better/fitter than pre-stents so I can’t really compare his recovery to yours. However, I’m a nurse and think you may need to get checked for other issues (anaemia, thyroid disorders, diabetes) as these may be causing your lethargy symptoms. Sorry I can’t be of any help. Hope you feel much better soon.
