I wrote here a few months ago after I'd had an MPI (Myocardial Perfusion Imaging) scan showing mild damage to the anterior wall of my heart. I was told I had angina and put on several medications. My main concern then and now has been about being able to do activities at normal levels for me ( running hills etc.). Once I realised that this was a symptom not a cause, I pushed to have further investigations.
I'm so glad I did this as I have now had an angiogram which included checking microvascular function and I have the complete all clear. There are no blockages in the arteries whatsoever and no signs of any issues with the microvascular system either so I've been told I can immediately come off the medication - with the exception of statins. If I had not pushed for this I would've been left to be managed by my GP and been on 4 medications - possibly for the rest of my life - and all for no good reason so, please people, don't accept the first answer!
There remain unanswered questions as I still have issues upon exertion ( Long Covid seems most likely) but I am so relieved the main structures of the heart are in good order. I have changed my diet to largely plant based avoiding almost all saturated fats but I think it unlikely in two months that this will have repaired damage. I have blood tests to check on statins soon so may get more of an idea of what has changed then but meantime will continue to build up activity levels and hope to return to everything I have done in the past.
