Hi

im 3 years removed from having a stent,

I am on Ramapril 2.5mgBisoprolol 1.25mg,Aspirin 75mg,Omeprozole 20mg, Atorvostatan 80mg, Amiodipine 5mg

Ever since I still get this heavy feeling in my chest, arms, also a weird feeling that's hard to describe lingers even after rest, it tends to get worse when I am active, I have been putting it down to Angina, is that what it is or could it be related to my meds??

Can anyone relate??

Thanks

Les

Talk to your GP Les. It may well be nothing but it's bothering you enough to be on here asking for help. Best to go straight to proper medical advice.

Having had open heart bypass surgery my experience is the only time you should use rampiril tablets is if you have pre op angina after post op you should not be taking rampiril but instead you should be on anatol or latest, lasartan speak to your GP about this for further advise

Big Al, A standard “cocktail” of drugs to treat Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) would be an ACE inhibitor (eg ramipril), a beta blocker (eg bisoprolol), low dose aspirin and a statin (eg atorvastatin). These are prescribed both before and after procedures or surgery (a stent or bypass). It is inaccurate to state that any of them should be stopped or changed to something else after surgery.

In some cases and circumstances angiotensin-2 receptor blockers (ARBs) or calcium channel blockers or diuretics might be added or substituted. This seems to have happened with you but that should not be offered as general advice.

This advise to stop taking rampiril was from a surgeon who was very annoyed about this as I said rampiril is used for post operative angina only and was emediately change to anatol

Statins causes muscular aches and pains talk to your GP about this

Regards Big Al

Ps these are heart malfunctions and should not described classed as a desease

Hi Big Al

Ramipril is also used to control high blood pressure, it is also one of the standard cocktails of medication prescribed for heart failure. It may be your surgeon suggested you didn't need to take it if your blood pressure isn't high. Hopefully the link below explains it's use better

Sure, what is your BP like?

Not sure what your problem may be but I was on Ramapril for a time then started having shortness of breath, fatigue, feeling weak and with muscle aches and blurred vision. Taken off Ramapril and things got better for a time then much worse. Found I had an aortic valve failing to work properly. It could be one of your meds or maybe that combination is not working right for you. My problem was the med was having the same symptoms as the valve malfunction so was masking it. Ask your pharmacist as well as the doctors treating you.
