struggling with atrial flutter

just wondering if any of you have had problems controlling atrial flutter (mine is atypical). Most posts I read are about atrial fibrillation. I had an incomplete and unsuccessful ablation in March, for typical flutter, but recently my symptoms are increasingly worse. I am troubled by a constant fast, irregular heart rate of between 80 and 100, with pauses and ectopics. I have been to A&E 4 times when pulse has risen to 130, but apart from ecg, bloods and reassurance nothing is found of concern, I am sent home. Arrhythmia nurse and GP are very supportive and tell me it is ‘an electrical problem’ and try not to worry (!). I have repeat ablation, under GA this time, planned for beginning of August, but am really struggling to cope with the symptoms, and meds do not seem to.help. I take Flecanide 50mg, morning and evening, and Bisoprolol 2.5mg in morning and 1.25mg in evening. (Until 2 days ago I was taking 100mg Flecanide twice a day with just 1.25mg Bisoprolol in the morning, but was changed because of side effects). The Flecanide has not reverted me to sinus rhythm as I had hoped. I also take Apixaban and Rosuvastatin.

sorry this is quite a long ramble, but I am not in a good place just now with constant high anxiety and am quite panicky if I go for a walk, so am just lazing the day away with worry which I know is not good,

Has anyone has had a similar experience, or have any advice. Thanks. I just want to get back to ‘me’.

I've had my share of atrial flutter. I had cardioversion and my heart went back into sinus rhythm for a while but it didn't hold. I had an ICD fitted about five years ago and all has been well until recently. In the past few days I've had an episode of atrial fibrillation and, because my device sends data to Cardiac Investigations at my local hospital, I got a reassuring call to tell me what had occurred and they are keeping an eye on me. I do understand your anxiety. You wouldn't be human if you could just brush off the worries.

Hi can quite understand your concerns. My self going for tests at the moment Fluter and low pulse had ECG plus 24 hour ECG waiting for echocardiogram and to see cardiologist it definitely effects my anxiety and you feel your doing it to yourself can’t stop worrying Doctors tell you try not to worry until you’ve had all tests but easier said than done hope you feel more relaxed soon x
