im just looking for some advice if possible. 2 weeks ago today I woke up with a really tight chest and a feeling that something was sat on my chest! I got extremely anxious but through deep breathing I calmed myself down and went back to sleep, following on from that I’ve had an uncomfortable feeling in my chest on and off and I’ve been extremely tired!. So today two weeks after the first episode I took my self to A&E to get checked out!.
I had an ECG which came back normal and a blood test that came back with a reading of 8, the doctor said my level should be lower than 3 and she couldn’t confirm if I had a heart problem or not so wanted to repeat the bloods in 3 hours. The results came back with the same reading as 8 so I was sent for a chest scan (clear) doctor said she doesn’t know what the problem is and discharged me.
I’ve come home none the wiser and still with the tight chest!
Should I be worried?
can you have higher levels and it not be a concern?
Anyone give me some advice as to what you think I should do?
thank you

Hi welcome to the community, Level 8 which blood results? If you mean High sensitivity Troponin T mine was 7 in 2 July 2023. Then I went to the hospital again 2 weeks later. And it was down to 6. But at that point in time hospital was quite dismissive. And were investigating Breathing problems because my oxygen levels were 89%.
Fast forward to September 13th 23 I had a Echocadiogram. On the 14th the hospital called me to return immediately and unfortunately I was diagnosed with severe Heart Failure 20% at the time it's sound like the end of my world. But with medication on my last Echocadiogram my heart has moved out of the Severe to moderate now at 35%. Function in January but not sure where it is now. But strangely my BP, ECG are always within normal range.
I am not saying you have the same thing but may be worth while persisting like I did and return to A and E if and when you feel unwell.
I had the same tight chest feeling and problems with breathing for some time. then, I thought this could be dangerous. I went to the hospital where the troponin enzyme result was 8 and I was told that the normal range is up to 15 and that is due to muscular problems. Not to worry I was told and sent home. the pain did not stop so I booked to see a cardiologist consultant in Harley Street who carried out a battery blood test and echocardiogram that came with a moderately enlarged mitral heart valve. The only treatment is blood pressure tablets. nothing else apart from major surgery.
Thanks for replying. It’s funny how you were told the normal range is up to 15, I was told it was 3 yesterday.
I suffered with my breathing at first but that seems to be better now, I do have extreme fatigue and wasn’t sure if that was related or not.
Did you have any other symptoms? Was your blood oxygen levels all ok?
I just don’t know what to do know for the best! I felt like the hospital just dismissed me yesterday as if I was making it all up. What I’m not understanding is that the doctor said my levels are in the grey area, I could have had a heart attack or I couldn’t. Then sent me home.
if you are still feeling like someone’s kneeling on your chest at times, I’d recommend chasing things up either with your gp or hospital. I had exactly the same sensation repeatedly last summer, went to a&e where they said as my blood test and heart trace were normal it must be acid reflux (gave me omeprazole and I ignored all the chest pains thinking it was reflux from then on). My gp referred me to cardiology to double check, but before the appointment date I collapsed with a cardiac arrest - am only here because my partner was with me and did cpr for 15 mins before the ambulances arrived. I appreciate that your situation may be different but it’s surely better to be safe than sorry. Good luck!
