prescribed propranolol for what they thought was anxiety, I was originally on ramipril for high bp however stopped this (stupidly) I felt I was having withdrawal and ended up in a n e but told it was anxiety. Was then put on indapamide for bp, I then had a few days of feeling really awful, doctor then gave me propranolol 40mg once a day, side effects and anxiety resulted from this, another doctor said take it as as when I needed it.. then the last doctor said try the 80mg slow release as my anxiety and sleep panic attacks got worse. I now have bradycardia and when i fall asleep i am woken suddenly feeling horrible, then have a panic attack. I also can’t exert myself beyond a walk as heart rate increases then drops when resting. Doctor said i need to reduce the propranolol but that means going on the standard tablets that release quickly. I feel like i need to stop propranolol eventually but all I see is bad stories. I also don’t know if it’s the indapamide.. Wondering if anyone has successfully come off 80mg slow release and if so how… thank you :)

this is not something I have experienced, but stopping beta-blockers therapy, after long term treatment, should be a gradual process, reducing the dose a little at a time over a period of 2 weeks or more (depending on the individual)

Hi, I came off 40mg twice a day after 10 years due to bradycardia, I did it over 6 months starting with 40 and 20 then 20 and 20 and so on down to 0 it was a bit of a struggle a few panic sessions but using breathing exercises got me through, I'm now 2 months of them, heart rate still a little low but getting better.

thank you for the reply. So you cut the dose in half to begin with? 40mg for your first reduction. I have been told to do 1 or 2 10mg tablets 3 times a day…
