I suggest you contact the Patient Advisory Liaison Service PALS of the hospital and ask to have a face to face appointment with a Cardiologist.
Say you are concerned that the Cardiologist didn't seem to listen to you, treat you with respect and didn't seem to appreciate that women can present with different symptoms when they have angina or have any understanding of microvascular and vasospastic angina.
Tell PALS how you feel confused as when you went to A&E the doctors recognised your symptoms as angina.
Send in links to the BHF about microvascular and vasospastic angina aa well as this article from the European Society of Cardiology about the lack of awareness about women and heart disease.
Do you suffer from gastric related reflux disease? Sometimes the chest discomfort you feel is very similar, perhaps even indistinguishable. I definitely suffer from reflux disease but after a bad session a few months after my NSTEMI, when the chest discomfort I felt was almost identical, I turned up at A&E (twice) and was told it was angina even though I told the professionals about reflux. In the end after the angina meds did nothing and it eventually subsided, plus an angiogram the cardiologist agreed that my episode hadn't been cardio related, it was gastro related.
Just a thought. Many years ago I was told I had a pain problem not a heart problem and perhaps I needed to see a Psychologist as I didn't respond to my anti anginal medication. I was told incorrectly that I couldn't have angina, nor a heart attack because my coronary arteries are unblocked.
My angiogram with acetylcholine showed I have coronary vasospasms. I have refractory vasospastic angina.
Women can face difficulties having their heart conditions recognised especially microvascular and vasospastic angina which disproportionately effect women.
I believe the OP has been told they may have microvascular angina.
I seem to start responding to some of the medication then it kind of wears of or symptoms start up again then they have been swapping meds about .I feel tired most of time and little energy to think this all started last October after an allergy triggered bad flare of asthma then left with chest pains .I agree hard to get diagnosis or be taken seriously at times .to be told ecg ok and angiogram I keep saying that doesn't show smaller arteries etc .
