Hi all,

Im now quite convinced that its the Clopidogrel causing my ectopic heartbeats, or at least exacerbating them.

Im returning to my Cardiologist next week, are there any alternatives I can discuss with him?

Hello :-)

There will be other medications they can try you on if they agree to change them which if you put it to them you are almost sure they are causing this they will

I am glad you have got an appointment next week and hopefully you will be able to get your meds changed and there will be an improvement :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

possible option is low dose aspirin. Clopiwhatsit is a blood thinner. I have taken it for years and I get on with it very well.

Be sure you understand exactly why you’re on clopidogrel in the first place. I’m on it now and I don’t like being on it, so I sympathize. But I thoroughly understand why I need anti-platelet therapy after a Watchman implant to ensure against DRT, “device related thrombosis”—which means that during the healing period, clots are more probable until my body has healed over this wound to my heart. The clopidogrel plays an important role in the healing process for 1-3 months. Even though I don’t like it—I bleed like a stuck pig and get a new bruise every time I turn around, and maybe it’s implicated in my PAC’s and fatigue and low heart rate—but I’m grateful that it is helping keep me safe from stroke during this healing time. I will be off it within another month or two, depending on test results.

If you understand WHY you’re taking a drug, it can make all the difference. Some doctors don’t take the time to explain. Make sure yours does. And discuss alternatives, their pros and cons. You’re working in partnership with your doctor. Working collaboratively.

I’ve been on clopidogrel since 2019 after being diagnosed with APS syndrome and no real problems did change to electric shaver and watch when I cut myself
