I understand that Olive Oil is good for you when used within cooking or in salads, but are actual Olives, Green or Black good for you as part of a balanced diet?

Olives
Olives have many health benefits, apparently, but for those of us prone to high BP them we need to be mindful from the salt they are cured in or the brine packed in. I love them and eat them reasonably regularly, just try not to eat too many in one go.
if you are eating the olives from a jar check the salt content 👍🏻
I concur with what’s been said. A “Mediterranean diet” is the one that’s out forward as really healthy for us westerners. And olives are part of this diet. But, as has been said, look on the pack for the salt content, compare this with the rest of the salt content of your diet (remembering that manufactured bread has A LOT of salt in it).
Personally I make my own bread, and that adds up to five grams a week, and I eat perhaps ten olives a week on average. The olives I eat are 6 grams per 100 gr which again is A LOT!
Yes olives can be salty, but you can rinse them in water before eating and it will help
If you soak them in milk for about 5 minutes, the milk draws more salt out than water.
