Hi Luke.
First of all good on you for joining this forum.
I'm a 50 year old whose just under gone Open Heart Surgery for a mitral valve repair 3 weeks ago.
I was born with a heart murmur so had this going on in the background all my life, always knowing one day i would need surgery, managed 50 years before intervention.
What are they proposing operation wise you may need in the future ?
It would help other members if you gave a little more background to your heart conditions and how that affects you, so that those with the same conditions may be able to offer some advice. Other than that have you investigated if your GP has a social prescribing service which may be able to put you in touch with organisations or people in your local area who share your situation.
Hi LukeP89. Welcome.
I noticed on your bio you have pulmonary hypertension. Last year I discovered I have also got that but it’s upgraded to severe. I also have dilated cardiomyopathy, and a heart function of 23%, so my heart is failing and I have various arrhythmias because of all this. I also have a CRT-D device fitted.
We would like to know a bit more about your heart issues. Mine started in my early 40s and I am now in my 60s. You are still very young, so there’s hope as heart treatments are improving all the time.
All the best.
