All medication comes with side effects, which affect some worse than others, and some not at all. Read the patient information sheets that come in the box or search for them online. Or talk to your local pharmacist. If the side effects are particularly debilitating go back to the prescribing health professional to discuss if any alternatives are available

anything that you put into your body will have an effect on you. Whether it’s a drink of water, an apple, a burger, or prescribed medication.

A good guide to general side effects is on the pack leaflet, more information could be available from the pharmacist attached to your docs group of surgeries.

Side effects can be very individual.

Hi

I'm on Isorobide Mononitrate. Aside from the comments below, when I started taking it I did have a couple of weeks of excruciating headaches. They were different and like nothing I've had before or since. They were at the back of my head/neck. They did make me feel very sick. Seemed to get worse as the day went on. Came close to stopping them. That's the negative. I was told it could happen in the first couple of weeks, so I stuck with it.

The positive. The headaches went after a couple of weeks. Along with the crushing chest pain/need for GTN spray I was experiencing just trying to go about my daily life. Havn't touched GTN since. I have Calcium Channel Blockers as well for overnight/early hours niggles. I have Microvascular Angina coupled with Spasms. Lifes a constant adjustment but Isorobides helped immensely. For me to say that is a lot. I hate taking tablets, I also have generalised anxiety disorder so I over think and worry about everything. But I couldn't live my life without those and calcium channel blockers. It isn't for everyone though, so see how you get on. Talk to your GP/pharmacy if you have any concerns. That would be my advice. I did.

Hope this helps.

I'm on various meds including Isosorbide Mononitrate (60mg slow release) and Bisoprolol (3.75mg) Haven't had any side effects of either. Some people do for the first few weeks but they tend to calm down after that. I'm sure your hubby will be fine on them. They're really effective drugs. All the best, Susie.

I’m on a minimum dose of Bisoprolol (1.25mg) and I find it can make me feel very tired. I just have to live with it …

Hi , I had bad headaches for two weeks when starting Isosorbide but had read that can happen. Fine after that. No side effects with Bisoprolol.

I tried isosorbide mononitrate as I’ve recently had a heart attack and was still experiencing chest pain and it didn’t agree with me at all. Made me feel really dizzy and lethargic. I was switched to Ranolazine which I take twice a day and have found this much better. It is a prolonged release tablet and I’ve found since taking I’ve not had to use my GTN spray. I also take Bisoprolol which doesn’t seem to affect me although I’m only on low doses as I don’t have high blood pressure so they’re trying to get a balance and for the meds to not lower my blood pressure anymore.

Hope this helps

I take Isosorbide Mononitrate (Slow Release). When I first started this medication I experienced transient side effects of headache and dizziness for first couple of weeks. I am now on a higher dosage and yet tolerating the medication. I have found this medication helpful.
