2 lead pacemaker to CRT PM

HiHad a 2 lead PM fitted 21 months ago following AV node ablation and since then I have developed heart failure and AF.

Had three visits to heart failure clinic and been prescribed ramipril, bisoprolol and dapagliflozin.

Cardiologist has stated a short term therapy of amiodarone may help get me back into normal sinus rhythm but I'm not keen on taking this medication.

My cardiologist said he would change my 2 lead pacemaker to a CRT PM which I believe paces the r/h side atrium and ventricle (same as the two lead I currently have) but also paces the L/H ventricle maintaining synchronisation.

Just looking to see if there's anyone out there that has a CRT and what their experience is with this type of PM.

I don't understand . I thought that if you had a pace/ablate procedure you wouldn't be aware, or at least troubled by AF. I have had a 3 lead CRT pacemaker plus AV node ablation suggested to me by cardiologist. Waiting for consultation with EP in couple of weeks to decide.

Sorry should have said earlier that my pace n ablate was for Wolff parkinson white, couldn't ablate the extra pathway causing the issue without taking out my AV node as both were close together, but now have a letter from my consultant stating I have developed AF.

Thanks Julia,

Not sure if I know what going on myself at the minute! was taken into hospital 21 months ago due to having Wolff parkinson white causing real bad palpations all my life, was 50 yr old when I was told I was 5x more at risk of a stroke or blood clot and was offered the ablation which wasn't straight forward as the had to take my AV node out as well, now 52 and never felt right since.

Now have HF and AF, just the way it goes I suppose!

Hoping someone can give their experience on having a CRT pacemaker, thinking this might be the answer to getting back to some kind of normal?

I took Amiodarone before my successful ablation. I was only on it for about a week before reverting to normal sinus rythym. However I had to take it for about a year before the ablation was performed and it does have side effects. I think it is only worth the risk if it taken very short term and minimum dosage. Up to you....

Hi jeans, taken amiodarone in the past and now have thyroid problems which have recently been under investigation hence not keen on taking this medication again.

I also developed an underactive thyroid which I didn't have before. I am now taking thyroxine for the last 18 months.Maybe ask your doctor if they can suggest an alternative drug?

Not what you're looking for?
