I had angiogram 2 weeks ago, told I need bypass op 😩, and I would be put on outpatient list for next consultation. All I have had is a note of the angiogram findings (medical jargon and very obscure) and the assurance I am “not urgent”. This is really getting to me - I check every 30 minutes to see if my record has been updated in the apps. Any advice on how long I should expect to wait. I don’t even think GP had been updated. My life is on hold waiting for some idea of what’s going happen.🫤

I can't help with timescale, as hubby went for angiogram and stent and told he was staying in as too clogged to go home. I would maybe call where you had the angiogram and ask have they updated your GP and have they an idea of how long the wait is.Hubby been in hospital 8.5 weeks and 6.5 weeks since op and our GP still didn't know

waiting times vary by hospital etc. Somewhere on the NHS website is an explanation and search for your local information- I had amuck look and can’t find it at the moment but someone else here may well be able to find it.

I know how you are feeling .I too found out after a angiogram in mid January that i need a triple bypass it certainly knocks you for six lol. the waiting is terrible .

I'm in Scotland and have received a appointment to meet the consultant that will do my bypass in Edinburgh on the 26th of this month to discuss everything , so for me about 10 weeks later. I'm hoping he will be able to give me a rough idea of a time frame but am hoping that I'm already on the waiting list however long that is. The waiting times seem to vary all over the uk. The waiting is really hard I'm one of those that doesn't cope with not having all the information. Hopefully you will hear something soon

Hello :-)

The diagnosis does come as such a shock and can take some processing and then when you have been given it and told what needs to be done the waiting can be the worst

I did not have to wait to long compared to some others but mine needed doing so no doubt the reason why

How long will you have to wait is now like saying how long is a piece of string but the positive you can take from this is even though you need it doing they do not think it is an emergency as they would not be leaving you like this if it was

Make sure if you are available that you let them know and ask to also go on the cancellation list as sometimes for one reason or another cancellations happen and they have a list where they look who could maybe take that place

I am sorry you have had this diagnosis I had to have a triple heart Bypass sounds frightening when you hear them say it but it is not as bad as it sounds and it will give you a new lease of life when you get it done :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x
