Waiting for a diagnosis

hi I am waiting for a doperamide stress echo which hopefully will be done in approximately 2 months from now. I’ve had random stabbing chest pains for over a year and and couple of occasions had a bit of left arm heaviness also palpitations and fast pulse . I didn’t feel like I had aheart attack. Cardiologist is treating me as suspected angina now but the letter written from my consultation to my go stated my symptoms are suspicious of ischemic heart disease and also q waves showed up in lead 3 on my ecg. I’m getting really anxious and asking dr Google for advice on a daily basis. I’m not normally anxious! I have type 2 diabetes which I have not been controlling over the last couple of years very well which now after the cardio by shock I am now getting a grip of Is there anyone who has been in a similar situation ? Thankyou x

Hello :-)

This is so common they tell you they think you have one thing and then a letter comes out saying something else which sounds so much worse and we do get anxious even if we were not an anxious person before !

I am however an anxious person and Dr Google as I call it will petrify you literally click on it for an in growing toe nail and eventually it will tell you that you will lose your toe !

So please and I know it is so hard to resist but for your own sanity stay of it as it will always give the worst scenario

Well done realising you had neglected your Diabetes and got back on track that is a positive

Others may come along and will be able to explain why they think the Consultant wrote that in the letter when saying to you something else but you could also try and speak with your Doctor and the BHF Nurses are really good who you can phone who will make you feel a lot better than Dr Google I will put you their number on

If they thought it was really serious they would not wait 2 months to do the test but I hope you get a date soon as I know that will help once it is done to stop you feeling so anxious

Let us know how you get on :-) x

hiya thankyou for your kind reply and words of wisdom! Im going to sit tight and chill out now until my test is sorted. I’ll put an update on when I know what’s happening. Im not one for joining forums it’s my first time I was desperate for some kind of reassurance and to know I’m not the only one stressing out 🙈 Xx

Hello :-)

I was never one for Forums I started on here though looking for help with anxiety and I would skip past this Community as I had health anxiety and then a few years later what happened a few heart attacks and Bypasses and here I am on the Community I would try and avoid but I must say when we are faced with heart related conditions it can help so much especially when looking for reassurance :-)

I look forward to hearing how you get on :-) x
